Karl Oswald, son of Fritz Oswald and Anna, was born in Crvenka/Tschervenka, Serbia. His family was evacuated in to the Sudetenland in 1944. They immigrated to the United States in 1952 and settled in Chicago, Illinois.

Henry Oswald, originally from Alsace near the Swiss border, sailed to Philadelphia in 1735. He settled in Lynn Township, Leheigh County, Pennsylvania. Descendants lived in Pennsylvania, Ohio, Michigan, New Jersey, and elsewhere. Samuel and John Everett also lived in Lynn Township, Pennsylvania.
