Joseph Owens was born ca. 1802 in South Carolina and married Epsie Caroline Gunter, who was born ca. 1813 in South Carolina. They Both died in Arkansas. Their son, William Riley Owens (1834-1921) was born in Yancy County, North Carolina. His family later moved to Hall County, Georgia. Descendants lived in Arkansas, Texas, California, New Mexico, Georgia, Oklahoma, and elsewhere.

The Taylor family originated in Scotland, migrated to Ireland and to England and later to America. James "Old Corn" Taylor (1763-1846) was born in Georgia, married to Mary Mann in South Dakota in 1785, and died in Missouri. John Owen was born in 1838 in Cargheliogh plwe Llanfharner Pioll, Wales, and married Mary Jones in 1860. They immigrated to Pomeroy, Meigs Co., Ohio in 1860, and found so many Welsh named Owen, that they changed their surname to Owens. He died in 1917.
