Peter Oyer was born 5 December 1771 in Tryon County, New York. His parents were Johann Friedrich Oyer and Elisabetha. He married Elizabeth Clark 9 February 1799 in Nine Partners, Dutchess County, New York. They had thirteen children. Follows the descendants of three of their sons, Jacob (1801-1868), James (1806-1893) and Solomon (1808-1858). Ancestors, descendants and relatives lived mainly in Germany and New York.

Joseph Oyer (1814-1866) was probably the son of John Oyer from Alsace Lorraine, France. He emigrated to the area now known as Tazewell and Woodford Counties, IL. He married (1) Miss Augsburger? and (2) Magdalena Litwiller?. Nine children were born to the first marriage and six to the second. They settled at Wesley City, IL.
