Jacob Parkhurst was born 19 February 1772 in Virginia. His parents were Samuel Parkhurst and Sarah Gard. He had a twin brother named Isaac. His family moved to western Pennsylvania in 1773. He married Anna Craft 16 February 1792. They had thirteen children. They moved to Ohio in 1802 and to Indiana in 1819.

Ephraim Parkhurst, son of Josiah Parkhurt (b.1736), was born in 1765 in Framingham, Massachusetts. He married Elizabeth Look (d. 1825), daughter of John Look, in 1788. They had ten children. He died in 1850.

George Parkhurst (ca.1588-1675), son of John and Sarah Parkhurst, was probably born in Ipswich, County Suffolk, England. He was married to Phebe Leete and was in Watertown, Massachusetts by 1642. In 1644 he married Susanna Simson and later returned to England, although many of his descendants remained and spread throughout the U.S.

Ralph Shepard (b.ca.1606) emigrated in 1629 from England to Dedham, Massachusetts, and after several moves, settled in 1665/1666 in Concord, Massachusetts. Edward Shepard emigrated from England to Cambridge, Massachusetts by 1642, married twice, and died before June 1680. Descendants of both lived throughout the United States.
