Some focus is on (but not limited to) descendants of John Benson Sr., a sea-captain who probably came to Newport, Rhode Island, ca. 1690. He married there in 1714. Nichodemus Keith was born in Ireland about 1755. He came to America before the Revolutionary War and settled in Virginia. He married Margaret Bordon about 1776 and they settled in Tennessee. They were the parents of eight children. Information on their descendants is given in this volume. Descendants now live in Texas, California, Oklahoma, and elsewhere.
Includes Cowan, Ely, Marshall, Parr, Williams, and related families.

William Holbrook (d. ca. 1626) of Glastonbury, Sommersetshire, England, and his wife, Edith, had seven children, ca. 1587-ca. 1602. Robert Parr, son of William Parr and Ruth Manning, was born in 1797 in Cambridgeshire, England. He married Hannah Charity in 1819 in Waterbeach, Cambridgeshire, England. They had seven children. They emigrated in 1834 and settled in Ontario. He died in 1874 in Wardsville, Ontario.
