John Gibson Paton, son of James Paton and Janet Jardine Rogerson, was born in 1824 in Kirkmahoe, Dumfries, Scotland. He married Margarret Whitecross in 1864.

Stephen Bull (1635-1706) was born at Warwick, England, the son of Josias Bull. He immigrated to South Carolina on the first fleet in 1670 and settled at Ashley Hall, a plantation on the Ashley River south of Kiawah. He was the father of four children born at Ashley Hall, 1683-1699. Descendants listed lived in South Carolina and elsewhere.
Includes the Dantzler, Hutto, Patton, Weathers and other related families.

William Paton, son of James Paton, was born in 1805 in Scotland. He married Mary L. Muir (1810-1886) in 1831 in Rutherglan, Lanarkshire, Scotland. They had ten children. He died in 1871 in Mackford, Wisconsin. Descendants and relatives lived mainly in Wisconsin, Minnesota, North Dakota and Washington.

David Paton was born 18 Nov. 1812, at Burnhead, near Balston, Ayrshire, Scotland, the son of John Paton (1776-1844) and Ann Allan Paton (1780-1855). He married Christina Woodburn (1812-1849), daughter of William Woodburn and Christina Forguson, at Galston in 1833. They had seven children.
