Colonel Robert Patterson (1753-1827) was born in the neighborhood of Cove Mountains, Pennsylvania. He migrated to Kentucky in 1775, where he was one of the founders of Lexington, Kentucky. He married married Elizabeth Lindsay of Franklin County, Pennsylvania, in 1780, and returned to Kentucky. They had at least eight children, 1786- 1801.
