Curtis Ballard was born in 1761 in Culpepper County, Virginia. His father was Phillip Ballard. He married Esther Gaines, daughter of Humphrey Gaines and Sarah Watts, 23 April 1781. They had nine children. Curtis died in 1824 in Harrison County, Kentucky. Descendants and relatives lived in Kentucky, Missouri, Texas, Ohio, Indiana, Arizona, Utah and elsewhere.

John Stull was probably born in Germany between 1680-1700. He immigrated to America before 1725. He and his wife, Martha, had ten children. The first four were probably born in Pennsylvania, the others in Prince George's County, Maryland. He was the first permanent German settler west of Frederick County, Maryland.
