Joseph Martin Christensen, son of Anthony Christensen and Castina Lovell, married Lula Payne, daughter of George Payne and Maria Gottfredson, 15 April 1926 in Manti, Utah. They had four children. Ancestors, descendants and relatives lived mainly in Denmark and Utah.

Vol. 1 is the history of Daniel M. Johnson's (1883-1965) ancestors and descendants. His ancestor, Duncan Johnson who served in the Revolutionary War lived in North Carolina and Alabama where he died ca. 1825. Another ancestor, William Hampton came to Virginia in 1620.

Elias Rector Conner was born in 1814, perhaps in Indiana. He married in 1845 to Sarah Lilly, who was born in 1824 in West Virginia to David and Sarah (Wilson) Lilly. They moved in 1846 from Indiana to Minnesota and then in 1883 to South Dakota. He died in 1910. Descendants lived in Minnesota, South Dakota, Montana, Michigan, Washington, and Canada. Allied names were Payne and Cleland.

John Preston (d.1748) married Elizabeth Patton, and immigrated in 1738 from Ireland to Augusta County, Virginia. Descendants lived in Virginia, Kentucky, Mississippi, Ohio, California and elsewhere.

Philip Clinard/Kleinert/Kleinart/Klinert immigrated from Heidelberg, Germany to Pennsylvania about 1680. One descendant, Samuel Yokley Clinard (1839-1924) married Margaret Ann Hasseltine Hamner (1846- 1927). Descendants of their fourteen children remained chiefly in the South.

Josiah Payne and Martha Shepard married about 1715 in Pennsylvania and settled in New Garden Township, Chester County. They are the parents of twelve children, the first eight being born at New Garden. Little is know of Josiah and Martha's nativity other than they probably were born in England. William Douglas (1610-1682), a Scot, married Ann Mattle in 1636, and in 1640 the family immigrated from England to Boston, Massachusetts. They moved to Ipswich, Massachusetts in 1641, and to New London, Connecticut in 1659. Descendants and relatives lived throughout the United States. James Payne was born in 1805 in Crockerton, England to James Payne and Sarah Green. He married Hannah Adlam in 1826 and they had seven children. His wife and two children died in England. James came to America in 1842, bringing his five remaining children and his sister Anna. He settled in Carrol County, Illinois, where he married Hannah Penny (or Perry) in 1853. He died in 1884.
