Thomas Pettit (ca.1610-1668) immigrated in 1630 from England to Boston, Massachusetts and married Christina Mellows. They moved to Exeter, New Hampshire in 1637 and to Newtown, Long Island, New York in 1665. Descendants lived in New England, New York and elsewhere.
