John Rowzee Peyton was born 16 May 1754 in Stoneyhill, Staffordshire, England. His parents were John Peyton and Elizabeth Rowzée. He married Anne Howe, daughter of Howson Hooe. They had six children. He died in 1798. Includes his ancestry.

The head of the Peyton family has not been identified. This Peyton was married to Pheobe Hancock as early as 1827, probably in Jackson County, Alabama, where the Peytons lived. Phoebe, the daughter of John Allen Hancock (1779-1855) and Sarah Ryan (1780- 1847), was born 27 March 1806 in Virginia, Tennessee, or Alabama. Nothing is known about the death of the husband. John Howe Peyton (1778-1847) was born at Stony Hill, Virginia. He married Susan Madison. She died and in 1821 he married Ann Montgomery Lewis. He was a lawyer and later was involved in politics. He died at Montgomery Hall, near Staunton, Virginia.
