John Whitney (1589-1673), son of Thomas Whitney, and his wife, Elinor (1599-1659) had nine children, 1619-1643. The family emigrated from Isleworth-on-the-Thames, England, and settled at Watertown, Massachusetts, in 1635. He married (2) Judith Clement at Watertown in 1659. She died before her husband. Descendants lived in Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Maine, Vermont, New York, Connecticut, and throughout the United States.

Azariah Lathrop (1772-1864), son of Samuel Lathrop (1743-1801) and Sarah Oakman (1741-1825), was born in Lisbon/Newent, Connecticut. He married Esther Lewis (1772-1858), daughter of Barnabas Lewis (1731-1811) and Rachel Curtis (1741-1817), 17 January 1796 in Wells, Vermont. They had eleven children. He died in Belvidere, Illinois.
