Tobias Frere was born in 1617 in Occold, Suffolk, England. His parents were Thomas Frere and Anne Wallis. He emigrated in 1635 and settled in Virginia. He moved to Barbados before 1650. He married Elizabeth Middleton in about 1663. They had two children, Tobias,Jr. and Elizabeth. Tobias,Sr. died in 1683 in Christ Church, Barbados.
