William E. Pitkin was born 13 January 1849 in Birmingham, Iowa. He married Mary Klingensmith (1851-1932) in 1871 in Creston, Iowa. They had seven children. Johann Schneppe was born 21 January 1837. He married in about 1870 and had eight children. He married Bertha Rubbel (1854-1925) in about 1884. They had five children. Their son, Ernst, was born 18 February 1888 in Elberfeld, Germany. He married Ruth Riebel in 1916 in Ohio. They had three daughters. Some descendants spell their name Schnepper.
