William Goodwin (d.1673) and Ozias Goodwin (1596-1683), brothers, emigrated with their families from England to Hartford, Connecticut, and William later moved to Hadley and then Farmington, Connecticut. Brothers John Stanley (d.1634/1635), Timothy Stanley (1603-1648), and Thomas Stanley (d.1663) immigrated from England to Massachusetts in 1634/1635, and moved to Hartford, Connecticut in 1636. John died on the ocean voyage from England, and his son, John (1624-1706), accompanied his uncles. Descendants lived chiefly in New England and New York.

Johann Schneppe was born 21 January 1837. He married in about 1870 and had eight children. He married Bertha Rubbel (1854-1925) in about 1884. They had five children. Their son, Ernst, was born 18 February 1888 in Elberfeld, Germany. He married Ruth Riebel in 1916 in Ohio. They had three daughters. Some descendants spell their name Schnepper. Includes McAlister, Pitkin, Wilmes and related families.
