Philip Janszen Ringo (ca. 1615-1662) was born at Vlissengen, Zeeland, Netherlands, and was living at New Amsterdam by 1643. He married Geertje Cornelis at New Amsterdam in 1647. They had five children, 1649-1658. He fell overboard and was drowned in the Atlantic Ocean. The Poe or Poë family originated in Nottinghamshire and Derbyshire, England. Some descendants settled in County Tyrone and County Fermanagh, Northern Ireland and elsewhere, including the ancestors of Edgar Allan Poe who came to Pennsylvania from Ireland in 1749 or 1750.
