Chiefly, a record of ancestors and descendants of John Ponder who was born in 1759 in Virginia. He was the son of Daniel (Buffalo Gap) Ponder (b. abt. 1725-d. aft. 1780) and Jamina Bennett. John married Margaret Cummings in 1780. She was the daughter of Caleb Cummings and Dorothy Dacres. John and Margaret had eight children. John served in the Revolutionary War and is believed to have lost his arm in that conflict. John died on October 25, 1804...

George Reade (1608-1671) was born in Linken Holt Manor, England and immigrated to America. He settled in Yorktown, Virginia and was the father of two children. Mildred Reade, from whom General George Washington descended, and her brother Thomas Reade (d.1669). William Reade, Sr. (1731-1798) was a grandson of Thomas and was born in Virginia. Joseph Burton Harden was born in 1872 in Sumter County, Georgia. His parents were Robert Monroe Harden (1840-1881) and Elizabeth Rouse. He married Katie Eliza Ponder (1876-1966), daughter of James Wells Ponder (1844-1926) and Susan Elvira Southwell (1844-1914) in 1896 in Irwin County, Georgia.

Bartholomew Taliaferro (1530-1601) was born in Venice, Italy and immigrated to London, England. He married Joane Lane and they were the parents of Francis Taliaferro. Francis was the father of Robert Taliaferro (b.1626) who immigrated to Virginia. His descendants settled in Virginia and later moved to Georgia.

This book traces five early Bradley families from Virginia. The earliest ancestors on each line are Lawrence Bradley (b. 1690), Richard Bradley (b. 1700), Edward Bradley (b. 1680), Henry Bradley (b. 1615) and Robert Bradley (b. 1635).
