Rebecca Jane Jefferis (1852-1936) was born in Iowa. She married William R. Hinshaw (1848-1874) in 1871. She married Sylvester Hadley (d. 1929) in 1877. Angus Van Meter Whitmer and his wife, Sarah Jane, were married in about 1902. They had seventeen children from 1903 to 1928. Thirteen lived to adulthood and married. They lived in Pima, Arizona and Alpine, Arizona when they were growing up. Descendants and relatives live in Arizona, New Mexico, Utah, Oregon and elsewhere.

This book begins with Arthur Brown(e) of Melchboone, England. His son Chad was born about 1600. Some of Arthur Brown(e)'s descendants to the 16th generation are covered in this history. The majority descend from Clark Brown, born 25 January 1771, in Stonington, Connecticut; married Tabitha Moffatt 1 December 1799; died about 1816 in Maryland. Descendants lived in Maryland, Oregon, Virginia, Missouri and throughout the United States.
