The subject of this study is the extended family of Thomas Wooton who in 1793 made his will in Surry County, N. C. and who was ancestor of a multitude of descendants now scattered widely across the United States. The period covered begins in 1735 in Orange Co., Va. and ends with the US census of 1820. Includes the Puckett families.

Arthur Johnson (1757-1839), son of George Johnson, served in the Revolutionary War, married Lucy Harmon in 1779, and lived in Virginia, North Carolina, Kentucky, Indiana and White County, Illinois. Descendants lived in Indiana, Illinois, New York, California and elsewhere.

Richard Puckett (d.1813) married Sarah McConnico, served in the Revolutionary War, and moved from Virginia to Williamson County, Tennessee in 1798. Descendants lived in Virginia, Tennessee, Mississippi, Texas and elsewhere. Includes genealogical data about Puckett individuals and families in Virginia without tracing relationship.

James Hill (1655-1708) was living in Henrico County, Virginia, in 1680. He and his wife, Anne, had eight children. Descendants to the fourth generation listed lived in Virginia and elswhere. John Puckett (d. ca. 1677) immigrated to Elizabeth City Co., Virginia in 1637. He acquired land in Henrico County in 1665 and probably married widow Anne Jefferys. Descendants often moved westward.
