Earliest known ancestor, John Morris (b. ca. 1652, d. 1680), was born in Pasquotank Co., North Carolina. He married ca. 1678 Damaris Page, daughter of Isaac and Damaris Shattuck Page. Descendants of Jacob Overman (ca. 1649-1715), who in 1667 sailed to Maryland Colony in the ship Thomas and Mary. In 1677 he married Hannah (1654-1692) in Wethersfield, Conn., where their nine children were born. This is a list of Hoggatt/Hockett descendants of the Quaker immigrants, Philip Hoggatt (1687-1783), who was born in England, and his wife, Mary Glendenning (1698-1780), who was born in Edinburgh, Scotland. Peter Pearson (1679-1735) was the son of Christopher Pearson (1645- 1711) and Eleanor Fearson (d.1714) of Ullock, Dean Parish, Cumberland, England. He married Rachel Newby (1690-1750) in 1709/ 1710 in Isle of Wight County, VA. His parents belonged to the Quaker faith and he also was a member. He settled in Perquimanns County, NC. Several branches of this family relocated to the midwest in later years. Several generations of descendants are given.

Genealogies of Quaker Ratcliff/Ratcliffe, Ratliff families of Maryland, Virginia, Indiana and North Carolina. Richard Ratcliff (1661-1721), son of Richard and Alice Rawsthorne Ratcliff, was born in England and died in Talbot Co., Maryland. He emigrated from England and arrived at Choptank, Maryland in 1682. Other lines followed in this book are from Wight County, Virginia, and Perquimans County, North Carolina.
