The Friederich family originated in Germany. John Friederich (b. 1802) was born in Baden germany and lived for a time in the Alsace. He and his wife, Margaret immigrated to America and settled in St. Clair, Illinois. They were the parents of five children. Descendants live throughout the United States.

The Wageners descend from Martin or Joannes Martinus Wagener of Wesel and Kevelaer, Rhineland, Germany, who married Anna Gertrudis Melchers (1718-1792) in 1759. Their great grandson Christiaan Wagener (1818-1882) of Griethausen, Rhineland, settled in Doornenburg, Gelderland, the Netherlands.
