"Jan Clement is the earliest ancestor on record for this Clement line. He immigrated from Holland in 1665 to New Netherlands (New York). His descendants moved up the Hudson River to Albany and Schenectady by 1690 and then west along the Mohawk River as far as Johnstown by 1750. The completion of the Erie Canal in 1825 made travel easier and Clements moved further west to Orleans County about 1890 with some going further west to Michigan and Ohio."--leaf...
