Levi Richards (1799-1876) was born in Hopkinton, Middlesex County, Massachusetts to Joseph Richards and Rhoda Howe. Levi and his brother, Willard, became converts to The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and were sent as missionaries to England (Willard first, Levi later). John Evans (1790-1849) was born in Hereford, Hereford, England, a son of Richard and Eleanor Evans. He married Mary Steed (1780-1855) at St. Mary's, Monmouth, Monmouth, England in 1817. She was a daughter of Michael and Mary Stead. John and Mary Evans were converted to the LDS-Church sometime before Oct. 1841.
