Edward Riggs was born in 1590 in England. His father was Edward Riggs. He married Elizabeth Holmes (1591-1635) 10 September 1618. They had six children. They emigrated in 1633 and they settled in Roxbury, Massachusetts. He died 1 March 1672. Descendants and relatives lived mainly in Massachusetts, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Maryland, Ohio, Colorado and California.

John Ridgway was born in England in 1786, the son of Caliph Ridgway. He immigrated to the United States, settled first in Virginia, and then migrated to Kentucky. He married Margaret Crum in 1807, near Bardstown, Nelson County, Kentucky. They had eleven children, 1808-1824, born in Breckenbridge, Hardin, and Ohio Counties, Kentucky. He died in 1827 in Harrison County, Indiana. Descendants listed lived in Indiana, Illinois, Missouri, Iowa, and elsewhere....

George Baker, son of Peter Becker, was born 6 February 1762 in Pennsylvania. He married Elizabeth Norris (1771-1857), daughter of William Norris (1729-1817) and Lewrannah Collier (1733-1827), in 1789 in Virginia. They had thirteen children. George died 27 June 1844. Descendants and relatives lived mainly in West Virginia.

He married Priscilla Ridgway (1791-ca. 1840), daughter of Joseph Ridgway, 1813 in Bullitt Co., Kentucky. The Wells family left Maryland for Kentucky sometime between 1795 and 1800. John Ragless (1789-1877) was the son of Richard Ragless and Mary Penfold Ragless of Angmering, Sussex, England. He married Elizabeth Cobb (1790-1879), the daughter of George Cobb and Sophia Tull of Fulham, Middlesex, England in 1815. The family emigrated to South Australia in 1838. Autobiography of Mary R. (Ridgeway) Rea, daughter of Andrew Ridgeway, a sea captain on a merchant vessel trading between Liverpool and Philadelphia. In 1852 she married James A. Rea in Philadelphia, and settled in Fairfield, Iowa. In 1862, they made a "sinuous trek" over the old Oregon trail in a covered wagon, and the description of this trek occupies most of the autobiography.
