John Berry Sr. (1786-1866) was born in West Louisville, Kentucky and served in the War of 1812. He moved to Illinois in 1815, to Texas in 1826/1827, and married three times. After several moves, the family finally settled in 1845 in Milan (later Williamson) County, Texas.
