Johann Martin Saar (1796-1863), a Huguenot, married Anne Marguerite Weilbrunner in 1822, and immigrated in 1847 from France (via New Orleans) to land near Charlestown, Iowa. Descendants lived in Iowa, Missouri, Florida, Colorado, Arizona and elsewhere. Includes many ancestors in the Lorraine area of France.

Description
Leonard Loftin (ca. 1654-1720) was born in Pennsylvania and migrated to Chowan County, North Carolina, ca. 1688. He and his wife, Elizabeth, had at least seven children, 1695-after 1705. Elizabeth died ca. 1716 and about that time he moved to Craven County, North Carolina, where he died. Descendants of his sons, Cornelius Loftin (1695- 1761), Leonard Loftin (1697-1774), and Benoni Loftin (b. 1705), listed lived in North Carolina and elsewhere.

The immigrant ancestor of this family, William Strother I (ca. 1627/30- 1700/02), is supposed to have immigrated from Northumberland, England to Virginia around 1650.
