John Whitham, son of John Whitham and Mary Pearson, was born 25 Jan 1782 in Addingham, Yorkshire, England. He married Hannah Bradshaw, daughter of George Bradshaw and Margaret Snowden, on 20 Dec 1807 in Addingham. They immigrated to the United States in 1820 and lived in Columbia, Pennsylvania. They had six children. Their descendants have lived in Pennsylvania, Illinois, New York, Nebraska, and other areas in the United States.

Five of the nine grandchildren of Kenelm Winslow (d.1607) immigrated from England to Massachusetts, and one of these five, Edward (1596- 1655) became a governor of the Plymouth colony. James Winslow (1687- 1773) was in the fifth generation through another grandson. He moved from Massachusetts to Falmouth, Maine, and married twice.
