Description
Abraham Salle, son of Jean Salle, was born in 1674 in St. Martin, Ile de Re, France. He married Olive Perault and they had six children. He died in 1720 in Manakirtoun Colony, Virginia. Descendants and relatives lived mainly in Virginia and Kentucky. The name is also spelled Sally, Salley and Sallie.

Hugh Phillips (1759-1842) was born in Kendall, Westmoreland, England, and died in Springfield, Orangeburg, South Carolina. He was a shoemaker by trade. He came to New York in 1773. In 1794 he married Mary Bolin (1773-1840), daughter of Edward Bolin and Nancy Ann Elizabeth Salley. She was born in Orangeburg Co., S.C. They were parents to eleven children. Descendants live in South Carolina and elsewhere.

Williams Burton (b. ca. 1801) was born in South Carolina. He married Mary (Franklin?) about 1827. They lived in Madison County, Alabama. In 1841 they moved to Tippah County, Mississippi and in 1859 to Grant County, Arkansas. Descendants lived chiefly in Arkansas.

They emigrated in 1700 and lived first in New York and then in Manakintown, Virginia. Descendants and relatives lived mainly in Kentucky, Missouri, Indiana, Illinois, Minnesota, Oklahoma and Arkansas.
