William Saunders (1836-1914) immigrated, with his parents, from England to London, Ontario in 1849. He married Sarah Agnes Robinson in 1857, and was the first "director of experimental farms" for the Canadian government. He and one son produced Marquis wheat (higher yielding and better). The other sons were also distinguished in different fields of accomplishment.
