Friedrich Beck Sr. was born 12 July 1867 in Grossliebensdl, Russia. He married Christina Sauter 12 September 1893 in Russia and was a soldier in the Russian military. He immigrated to the United States with his family in 1908 and they settled in Herreid, South Dakota. They reared a family of nine children. Friedrich died 4 August 1948. Descendants lived primarily in South Dakota, Washington and elsewhere.

Christian Souders Sr.(1765-1823) may have been the second eldest son of Jacob and Elizabeth Sowder of Frederick County, Maryland. His brother, Michael Sowder was born there in 1768. The Jacob Sowder family later moved to Montgomery County, Virginia. Christian also lived in Tennessee and Indiana. Descendants lived in Missouri, California, Colorado, Oregon, and elsewhere.
