David Frederick Sawyer was born 25 June 1901 in Malad, Idaho. His parents were David Enoch Sawyer and Margurete Antonia Gehring. His grandparents were Enoch Sawyer, Mary Richards, Albert Gehring and Sally Susan Wakely. He married Bessie Butler 20 November 1920 in Bountiful, Utah. They had four children, two died at birth. After Bessie died, David married Helen Christofferson 25 June 1975.
