Johann Gottfried Schilling (1802-1881) married Anna Rosina Lange in 1822 at Langmeil, Prussia and, as Lutherans, were subject to religious persecution by the crown princes or kings of Prussia. Eventually they joined with other Lutherans and decided to immigrate (via England) to Adelaide, South Australia in 1838.
