Johannes (John) Schopfer (1832-1891) emigrated from Switzerland to Winesburg, Ohio in 1850, and married Susan Fehndrick in 1865. In 1880 they moved to Columbiana County, Ohio. Descendants lived in Ohio, Oregon, California and elsewhere. Includes Schopfer ancestry in Switzerland to the early 1400s.

Three children have few records; Margaratha (b. 1861); Friedrich, (1871-1891); and Louise (b. 1874) who married James Harrington. Adam (1860-1937) married Mary Kendal (1857-1901) and they had five children. Georg Michael (1869-1924) married Maria Agnes Schmidt (b. 1767). They had four children. Descendants extend to 1942.

George Friedrich Schmid II, born Jan. 28, 1833 at Kircheim, Heidelberg, Germany, son of George Friedrich Schmid I and Eva Katharina Olschlager. He married Eva Rosina Schmitt, born June 1, 1836 at Kircheim, Germany, daughter of Johann Jakob Schmid and Anna Maria Elisabetha Hauser, on January 7, 1858. Their were sixteen children born to this couple. He died February 7, 1898 at Shelby, Nebraska. She died March 23, 1930 also at Shelby.

Hans Ostertag was living from 1389 to 1434. His son Hans, a butcher, was a member of the town council from 1446 to 1458. A later grandson Hans (d.1548) was Master of the Guild of Lodenweavers in 1522. He was survived by seven sons. Thomas Patrick Roche, son of James Roche (d. 1827), was born in 1824 in Limerick, Ireland. He emigrated in 1850 and settled in New York City, New York. He married Bridget Sheehan Cullinan, daughter of Patrick Cullinan and Bridget Downes Donahue, in 1854 in Cleveland, Ohio. They had seven children. He died in 1908 in Avon, Minnesota. Descendants and relatives lived mainly in Minnesota, Idaho and Utah.
