Descendants of three sons of Theodore and Catherine Lichter Schmitt of Röhl, Germany. Peter Schmitt (1823-1913) married Eva Franzen (1830-1905) also of Röhl, in 1851 at Röhl. Seven children were born to them in Germany and the eight child was born in St. Lucas, Iowa in 1871. Family came to Fayette Co., Iowa in 1870. Helen Schuhwerk was born in 1905 in Missouri. She was one of six children of Theodore and Mary Forster Schuhwerk. She married Gregory G. Bauer and they were the parents of three sons. Peter Ruden (1805-1881) was born in Roodt-sur-Syre, Luxembourg, His parents were Jacob Ruden and Magdalena Stemper. He married Barbara Gloden (1812-c1864), daughter of Peter Gloden and Anna Fiedler, in 1835. They had twelve children. They emigrated in 1854 and settled first in Chicago, Illinois and later in Iowa. Includes Heiderscheit, Jarding, Schmitt and related families.

The genealogy of the Dick and Zaehnle families in Mishawaka, Indiana. Clara Eldora Zaehnle (1876-1959) married Albert Joseph Dick (1876- 1909). He was a brother of Crezencia Dick who married Anthony Lauber. Their son, Joseph married Emma Rose Zaehnle who was a niece to Clara Eldora. Descendants spread throughout the United States and into Canada.
