John Schofield was born 3 July 1803 at Newton Heath, Lancashire, England, son of Joseph and Mary Schofield. He was transported to Australia in 1821. He married Bridget Harley 6 April 1829 at St. John's Church of England, Parramatta. John and Bridget had eight children. Bridget died 19 December 1851. John died 12 October 1884. Most descendants are still resident in New South Wales some elsewhere in Australia.

Thomas Dalton (b.1732) born at Pembrey, Wales was the emigrant ancestor that emigrated to America and served in the Revolutionary War. His son John Dalton is believed to have been born at Canico Jiggs, Northumberland Co., VA. He married Elizabeth Cooker and they lived in Bucks Co., PA. Several other Dalton lines are also explored.
