James Madison Hart, born July 3, 1846 in Carroll County, Georgia, married Martha Vella Wright in 1874. They lived in Carroll County for a time, moved to Collins County, Texas, then returned to Georgia and settled in Paulding County. He died in 1927. Alexander Scogin was born about 1750 in Virginia or North Carolina. He married Mary Gresham about 1770 and they were the parents of eight children. They eventually settled in Georgia with descendants now live there, in Alabama, Florida, Tennessee, and elsewhere. Material collected on many of his descendants is given in this volume.

John Adams was born in South Carolina between 1785 and 1796. He died in Georgia in 1865. He married Margarett Ott Sheppard Gantt (1794- 1855) who had three children. About 1820, he married Elizabeth Ott, widow of Dempsey Seigler (1796-1889). Descendants and relatives lived chiefly in the South.
