Chiefly, a record of descendants of Roger Shackleton who flourished in 1597. He had three brothers who were William, Richard, and John Shackleton. A few generations of descendants of William and Roger are listed. Roger married Jenet Sharp on January 30, 1580. She was the daughter of Henry and Jenet Sharp.

The earliest records of Shakletons in the West Riding of Yorkshire appears to have been members of the family acting as Foresters to the DeWarrens, Earls of Surrey.
