Jeremiah Clemens was born in New Jersey and died (1811) in Amherst Co., Va. He married Elizabeth Moore in N. J. He was the son of Ezekiel Clemens, who migrated from New England to New Jersey to Virginia. Apparently Jeremiah and Samuel were brothers rather than uncle and nephew. Therefore, Ezekiel was the grandfather of Samuel Clemens (Mark Twain) rather than the great-grandfather.
