Uriah Shearer was born 5 September 1700 in New York. He married Elizabeth Rogers (1772-1856) in 1793 in Greenwich, New York. They had seven children. He died in 1847 in Machias, New York. Ancestors, descendants and relatives lived mainly in New York and Wisconsin.

Patrick Townsley (b. 1802-1886) was married to Janet Elliott and it is presumed they immigrated to Canada from Carmoney, Antrim, Ireland. They settled near Montreal, in Lachine. Christopher Day and his wife, Martha, were baptized at the Pennyback Baptist Church in Pheladelphia County, Pennsylvania, in 1714. They were the parents of at least six children. He died in 1748 and was buried at the Cross Keys Cemetery, Plumstead Township, Bucks County, Pennsylvania. Descendants listed, chiefly those of his son, Mathew Day, lived in Kentucky, Ohio, Indiana, Michigan, and elsewhere.

Abraham Shearer (179-1877) married Elizabeth L. Burk, and lived in New York, Vermont, Michigan, Ohio and Pennsylvania before moving to join their children in California between 1860 and 1870. They had seven children (5 boys and 2 girls), and one of the girls died young in Pennsylvania. The remaining children moved to California in 1859 and thereafter. Descendants and relatives also lived in Idaho and Nevada as well as California.

All the Eibs in this country are related. The different branches in this book go back to Wurttemberg Province, Germany in the early 1500s. The earliest known ancestor, Andreas I Eyb, was born 1536 in Waiblingen, and married Anna Volz in Calw ca. 1553. He was a town pastor in Schorndorf from 1574 to 1590. The Eib family members live in Pennsylvania, Ohio, Indiana, Illinois, Minnesota, Kansas, Virginia, Iowa, Tennessee and elsewhere.
