William Ervin (b.1777), of Scottish lineage, emigrated with his parents from Ireland to Washington County, Pennsylvania in 1781. He married twice and moved to Stark County, Ohio. Armstrong Erwin, one of his sons, moved to Wayne County, Ohio, and married Mary Ann Mowery. In 1855 they moved to Williams County, Ohio. Descendants and relatives lived in Pennsylvania, Ohio, Indiana, Michigan, Illinois and elsewhere.

Melchior Brenneman was born about 1631 in the Swiss Canton of Bern. He married and had seven children. The family moved to Greisheim, Germany in 1672 to escape religious persecution. His sons, Melchior (1665-1737) and Christian (d. 1759), immigrated to America in 1709 and settled in the Conestoga region of Pennsylvania.
