William Carpenter was born 23 May 1605 and lived in Wiltshire, England. His parents were William Carpenter of Wherwell (1576-1638) and Alice. He married Abigail Searles (1593-ca.1624), daughter of Edward Searles and Elizabeth Gifford, in about 1621. They had two children, who both died young.
