Ulrich Shirk (b.1675) in Switzerland and came to America in 1728 where he settled in Pennsylvania. He was the father of eight children and is the earliest known ancestor of John G. Shirk (1842- 1930) who was born in Pennsylvania and married Susanna Sauder in 1865 and later Annie Newswanger in 1884. He was the father of twenty children.

The emigrant ancestor, Ulrich Schürch (b. 1663), was born in the Canton of Bern, Switzerland. He was married to Helene Myer of French and Swiss ancestry. Family left Switzerland in 1728, and settled in Lancaster Co., Pa. in 1732. Descendants live in Pennsylvania, Ohio, Illinois, Indiana and elsewhere.

Mabel Zamina Shirk (1886-1949) was born at Oxford, Iowa, the daughter of James Michael and Laura Yenter Shirk. The family migrated to Ogden, Utah, for farming and growing fruit in 1889. Zamina attended Weber College and met Israel Smith Larkin (1884-1977). Her parents, staunch Methodists, opposed the marriage but she joined The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and married him in the Salt Lake Temple in 1905. John Schelly (1749-1819) was born son of Abraham and Eve Shelly and the grandson of Abraham and Elizabeth Schelle, the immigrants. He and his wife, Mary Yellis, had eight children, 1774-1789. He is buried at the Brick Mennonite Meetinghouse Cemetery. Mary Yellis Schelly, is buried at the Kilmer family cemetery, near Mt. Hope Schoolhouse, Tuscarora Township, Juaniata County, Pennsylvania.
