David Thomas was born in Maryland in 1786. He married Susanna Shively and they moved into Pennsylvania and on to Ohio. David died in 1859 while Susanna died in 1860 both in Ohio. Many of their descendants still reside in midwestern states today.

Johannes Nilsson and Christina Johannesdotter were married in 1845 in Sweden. They came to America in 1852 and settled in Indiana where the family changed the spelling of their last name to Nelson. Both John and his son John fought with the Union during the Civil War. John died in 1865 while Christina lived until 1902. Their descendants through their son John and Elizabeth Ann Murray Nelson are included in this family history.
