Two Shouse brothers came to America from Germany and settled in Pennsylvania. One of them, Henry Shouse, migrated to Woodford County, Kentucky, ca. 1750. He and his first wife had several children, but there is record of only one, Henry Jr. He married 2) Elizabeth Jones of Bath County, Kentucky. They had thirteen children. He died in Woodford County in 1835. Descendants lived in Kentucky, Missouri, and elsewhere.

Jacob Miller Sr. (1754-1835) was born in Berne, Berks Co., Pennsylvania and married Ann Stutzman (1755-1814) who was also born in Berne, Pennsylvania. They reared their four children in Pennsylvania and later moved to Ohio. Jacob Sr. died 22 February 1835 in Holmes Co., Ohio and Anna died in Tuscarawas Co., Ohio 22 March 1814. Descendants lived primarily in Indiana and elsewhere.
