Lewis Rome arrived in America in 1882, and married Julia Lavien. They moved to Fitchburg, Massachusetts, where there were only 7 other Jewish families. They were the parents of 12 children, 6 boys and 6 girls, eleven of whom grew to maturity. Their descendants lived in Massachusetts, New York, Washington, California and elsewhere.

James Yaroslav Navratil (1880-1964), son of Vinzenz Navratil (1838-1910) and Marie Vesely (1841-1888), was born in Dobrovitov, Bohemia. He married Anna Barbara Novak (1895-1982), daughter of Josef Novak (1871-1938) and Anna Vohanka (1872-1909), in 1915 in Chicago, Illinois. He died in 1964 in Mason City, California. Ancestors, descendants and relatives lived mainly in Bohemia, Illinois, Minnesota, Iowa and California.
