Monroe Madison Shuey, son of Jacob Shuey and Mary Ann Lentz, was born 2 July 1863 in Dauphin County, Pennsylvania. He married Madora Sofia Austin (1873-1914), daughter of Henry Shadrack Austin and Mary Ann Johnston, 4 October 1890 in Minnesota. They had twelve children.
