Grant Lee Shumway was born in 1906 in Jewitt, New Mexico. His parents were Peter Minnerly Shumway and Mary Elizabeth Johnson. He married Mary Lake, daughter of William Bailey Lake and Sarah Emma Carroll (1909-1930), 1927 in Salt Lake City, Utah. They had two sons. He married Mabel Carroll , daughter of James Franklin Carroll and Mary Bell Black, in 1934. They had six children. He died in 1987.

Agnes Beveridge Jardine was born 23 March 1863 in Wellsville, Cache County, Utah. Her parents were John Jardine (1830-1903) and Agnes Beveridge (1829-1907). She married Charles M. Shumway in 1879 in Salt Lake City and had three daughters, Sadie, Lucetta and Maud. She died in 1928 in Logan, Utah. .

Charles M. Shumway (1848-1940) was born in Salt Lake City to Charles Shumway (1806-1898) and Louisa Minnerly (1824-1890). While still in his youth, he moved to Cache Valley. He later served a mission in Great Britain. After his mission he married Sarah Jardine and later took her sister, Agnes Jardine, as a plural wife. Descendants live in Utah, Idaho and other parts of the western United States.
