Alexander Sleeth, of Scottish lineage, emigrated from Ireland to Philadelphia in 1747, with his wife and first daughter, and settled in Loudon County, Virginia. His son, Alexander Sleeth II (1750-1820) was born in Virginia and fought in the Revolutionary War. Some descendants moved to the Midwest.

Frederick Wilhelm Kroeger was born 23 January 1838 in St. Louis, Missouri. He married Sofia Margarita Rohlfs (1843-1922), daughter of Henry Rohlfs and Margaret Dorothee Preeht, in 1862 and they settled in Illinois. They had eleven children. They moved to Colorado in 1874. He died in 1907 in Durango, Colorado.

Jonas Elwood Hawkins was born 20 July 1857 in Warren County, Ohio. His parents were Charles Hawkins and Martha Mills. He married Louisa R. Turner, daughter of James Turner and Elizabeth Purvis 4 August 1881 in Tipton County, Indiana. They had ten children. Jonas died in 1940. Ancestors, descendants and relatives lived mainly in England, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Ohio, Indiana and Texas.
