Edward Small emigrated from England to Maine during or before 1640, and died after 1653. Descendants lived in New England, New York, the rest of the United States, and elsewhere.

John E. Woods was born 14 November 1842 in Indiana. His parents were Joseph Woods and Mary. He married Charlotte Small, daughter of Samuel Small, in 1866. They had eight children. Descendants and relatives lived mainly in Nebraska.

David Wilson Small was born 18 December 1826 in Cheltenham, Montgomery, Pennsylvania. His parents were Jonah Small and Ann Wilson. He married Susanna Ely 30 January 1851 in Bucks County, Pennsylvania. They had three children. He was a lawyer. He died 29 October 1899 in Oconomowoc, Waukesha, Wisconsin. Grace Williams was born in Illinois in 1895. She married Edmund Small in 1914. They were later divorced. She was interested in genealogy and her family records are included in this material. Her ancestors lived in Kentucky and Virginia and family members moved west with other Americans. Includes Williams, Mills, Ridings, Cundiff, Small, and related families.

Samuel Wright was born in Florida in 1927. He later moved to Nashville, Tennessee where he lives in 1994. Information on several of his ancestral lines which have been in America since Colonial times is given in this volume.
