Description
James Smythe (1778-1820), of Scottish lineage, was a son of Joseph and Elizabeth Smith of Belfast, Ireland. He immigrated to Philadelphia, moved to St. Mary's, Georgia, and married Mary Thorpe in 1803. His will was recorded in Woodbine, Camden County, Georgia. Descendants and relatives lived in Georgia, Florida, South Carolina, Maryland, Virginia and elsewhere. Includes Thorpe ancestry in Georgia, Virginia and elsewhere to about 1700.

Robert Smythe was born 26 February 1793 in Belfast, Ireland. He married Mary Brown (1795-1848), daughter of Alexander Brown and Elizabeth Logue. They had thirteen children. William W. Smyth was born in 1809 in Tralee, County Kerry, Ireland. He married Dora Bateman who was born in 1825 in Bandon, County Cork, Ireland.
