Colonel Josiah Snelling, Jr. (1783-1828) was born in Boston to Josiah and Mary Whitlock Snelling. In 1804 he married Elizabeth Bell who died a few years later. He fought in the western region of the United States during the War of 1812 and then helped settle the upper Mississippi Valley. He helped found Minnesota. Josiah was the father of nine children by his first wife and his second wife, Abigail Hunt. Descendants live throughout the United States....

William Ricketts was born in Twyford, Hampshire, England and immigrated to New Jersey and later to Baltimore, Maryland about 1637. He married Mary Walton of New York, and died about 1700.

William Snelling, son of Hugh Snelling and Margaret Marshall, was born in 1764 in Westmoreland County, Virginia. He married Sarah Scott (1766-1849), daughter of William Scott, in 1788. Mira Jane Jewett was born 1 November 1809 in Saint Johnsbury, Caledonia, Vermont. She married Nicholas Abbott (1799-1871), son of Bancroft Abbott and Lydia White, 12 August 1829. She died in 1890 in Fremont, Dodge, Nebraska. Her parents were Luther Jewett (1772-1860) and Betsey Adams.
